Hauser Varsity Explodes for 27 Runs in Rout of Edinburgh The Hauser Varsity Jets delivered an offensive showcase on Thursday, April 9, rolling past the Edinburgh Lancers 27–2 in a dominant road victory. Hauser wasted no time setting the tone, plating runs in each of the first four innings. After a modest start in the first, the Jets broke things open with a three-run second inning before erupting for 14 runs in the third. They added nine more in the fourth to put the game well out of reach. The Jets finished with 27 runs on 13 hits, taking advantage of 16 walks and several Edinburgh errors. Their patience at the plate and aggressive baserunning kept constant pressure on the Lancers’ defense. Leading the offensive charge was S. Gill, who drove in three runs and collected multiple hits. K. Blair also had a big day, tallying four hits and three RBIs. J. Sargent contributed in a big way as well, scoring four runs and driving in four. R. Sessions crossed the plate five times and added two RBIs, while R. Foster added a triple and multiple RBIs. Hauser showed power throughout the lineup, with extra-base hits coming from multiple players including triples by Foster and Schoettmer and doubles from Sessions, Sargent, Gill, and Blair. On the mound, S. Myers helped keep Edinburgh in check, as the Jets limited the Lancers to just two runs on two hits. Hauser’s defense backed up the pitching effort despite a couple of miscues. Edinburgh struggled to generate offense, with their only extra-base hit coming from S. Cooney, who recorded two doubles. The Lancers were also hampered by 10 strikeouts and seven defensive errors.
