Boys Cross Country 4-Peats as MHC Champs

M.H.C. Cross Country Championship Hauser's cross country squads earned team and individual titles at the conference meet, held Saturday at Morristown. The Jets ran away with the high school boys' race, earning their fourth straight M.H.C. title and their sixth in seven years. Last year's individual champion Nolan Dailey defended his claim to fastest runner in the conference, touring the course in a time of 16:27.0. Teammates Jace Wright and Max Moore took second and third, finishing in 16:58.2 and 17:22.5. Braydon McFarland (18:19.3) and Mason Moore (18:26.4) secured the victory with sixth and seventh place finishes. Grady Niccum (19:43.0) took 13th, Mason Johnson (19:48.0) came in 14th, and Max Miller (24:03.9) was 26th. Dailey, Wright, McFarland, and Max and Mason Moore were named to the M.H.C. All-Conference Team. Hauser's junior high boys likewise won their contest in a dominating fashion, placing six runners in the top ten for their eight consecutive conference championship. Matthew Moore won the race with a time 10:45.5. Nevin Noble captured second place in 11:20.5, Noah Blankinship took fourth (12:13.8), Kaleb Brown placed fifth (12:25.2), and Suri Palia came in seventh (12:28.9). Marvin Hamilton was ninth (12:34.0), Sami Palia twelfth (12:40.3), and Kristian Howard thirteenth (12:51.9). The Jets came just short in the junior girl girls' race, finishing runner-up to Morristown by only three points. Jaylee Maughon was third with a time of 12:14.5, Kendalyn Gernentz placed fourth in 12:32.2, Molly Carman finished seventh in 13:20.0, Kiah Wright was eighth in 13:22.2, and Anna Crowder was 21st in 14:08.3 The conference meet concludes the junior high squad's 2025 season, while the varsity team prepares for the IHSAA state tournament, beginning with Saturday's sectional meet at Brown County.
